Updating Zacks software and databases using monthly CD-ROM

Article Number 0004

Before you begin the update of the Zacks Research System, make sure that you have your User ID handy (User ID number is assigned to you in a letter accompanying the original installation package). If you do not know your User ID, please contact your Zacks Representative.

Next, make sure that no Zacks or other software applications are running.

Insert the ZRS disk into your CD-ROM drive. By default, Windows recognizes that you've inserted a CD-ROM and activates the Install Wizard immediately. If Windows doesn't launch the wizard automatically, simply select Run… from the Windows Start menu to activate the Run dialog. Within the Open field in this dialog, type x:\setup, where x: is the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive, and then click OK to begin the Install Wizard.

The Welcome to Zacks Research System dialog appears first. Click Next to proceed.

Entering User Information

In User Information dialog box, type your and company name.

In the Serial field please enter the User ID (or DID) number as it was assigned to you in a letter accompanying the original installation package. Click Next to go to the Selecting Installation Type menu.

Selecting Installation Type

When updating your Zacks software and databases, it is recommended to use option "Update Databases and Software" to make sure that you always have the updated software. But, if for some reason, you just want to update the data, you can do so by selecting option "Update Databases".

Occasionally, when new versions of the particular module are released, you will receive a notification letter that will accompany your monthly CD-ROM with instructions on how to upgrade your software to the latest version. In the letter you will be specifically instructed to use the Install option (Local Installation if you are using the Zacks system on a single computer, or Network Installation, if you have multiple users).

You can also use the Install option if you are installing Zacks system on a new computer.
